DAX Reveals Visuals for New Single ‘Black Lives Matter’

Dax shares timely powerful visuals for his anti-racism song Black Lives Matter that serves as an ode to protesters.

DAX 2020

Following his sophomore release I’ll Say It For You earlier this year, Daniel Nwosu Jr aka Dax is now kneeling down and taking a stand against the police brutality and racial injustice matters. Black Lives Matter plays a heartfelt tribute role to the ongoing racism towards people of colour, the latest being the George Floyd case who viciously passed away due to police misconduct. Dax states:

Song I made for what’s going on in the world that is about bringing people together and not tearing them apart. It’s US against racism.

The meaningful track is different from anything else we’ve heard from the Canadian rapper before. Undoubtedly one of the most important and much needed tracks of the year, the minimalistic melodic rap song glides over the tender piano chords and rhythmic drum beats that make for a hauntingly memorable listening experience. Starting with airy, heat-warming high vocals that repeat ‘I Can’t Breath’, within seconds you get the poignant effect the song is trying to pass and prepare you for the truthfully harsh lyrics that are about to come – ‘See nobodies born racist man it’s something you learn’ and ‘Cut me open, cut you open Red’s the color every single human being bleeds’ are only a small example.

The accompanying visual is equally haunting as the lyrics themselves. ‘Remember when we were kids and didn’t see color?’, the text in a black screen flashes within the first seconds of the music video, depicting the candid essence of the track. Shot by Damien Sandoval, the music video showcases shocking protest footage from the riots in the US, with all its profits going to Campaign Zero.

‘Don’t you dare stay silent.’
