SMOKEHOUSE Charm With Debut Single ‘Slowly’
Smokehouse introduce themselves with their sultry debut single Slowly.
Canadian duo Smokehouse set the standard high with their debut single Slowly, a hazy cut that extends a warm invitation for you to join the duo in their hazy yet wildly vibrant world. Formed of Daniel MacKenzie and Peter Mol, the two bonded over similar desires to do their own sonic exploration as they found themselves producing more for others rather than for themselves. Peter reminisces:
It was getting to the point where I didn’t have much focus or clarity on what my sound was anymore – it was a shot in the dark, but I felt like we owed it to ourselves to try and make something together and see where it went… I’m really glad we did.
And we can only echo the sentiment as Slowly charms us in a not-so-slow manner. From the ardent lyricism to the exhilarating synth bursts, there is an ever-present passion that sounds ever so sweet. The crashing chorus, in its myriad of effects and sounds, is like digging through a treasure trove as your ears are guided towards smooth falsetto and syncopated bass, before an exuberant brass melody wraps up the track on a soaring high.
