GLOM Share New Single ‘Fungus’

The fuzz-tinted Brooklyn alt-rockers in Glom have released a third single ahead of their upcoming sophomore album, Merit.

Glom 2020

What I can only describe as beach rock for the city — Fungus is a soft, mellow and melodious track that is entrancing from start to finish.

While initially listeners will be grasped by the smooth guitar tones, rumbling bass and buttery vocals, it’s the interstellar synth and subtle maracas that take the track to a whole new dimension.

Contrary to its laid back and care-free vibe, Fungus explores the feelings of cyclical rejection and isolation, leaving you feeling as hopelessly lovelorn as the main character in a 2010 indie film.

In regards to the song’s story line and structure, Glom had this to say:

‘Fungus’ is about drowning in the aftermath of rejection. Unable to fully process what’s happened, it is easy to just move on without reflecting; however, that only allows for the same outcome to occur over and over again. It was written after a string of really bad weekends.
