DERYK Shares Stunning New Single ‘goodtimes’
Melancholic and soft, deryk shares Billie Eilish-esque new single goodtimes.
Auckland-based, UK-born newcomer deryk is making diploids in the music industry with her deep, emotional and soulful music. Following her debut single Call You Out which was released earlier this summer, her new offering goodtimes is themed around painful reminiscence and learning to let go in honour of yourself. The soft vocals and chilled out backing track make for a beautifully slow and painstakingly vulnerable song in which deryk opens her heart to the world.
Speaking on the new release, deryk shares:
‘goodtimes’ is about not being able to reminisce or enjoy looking back on a time period in your life because it turned out to be a complete waste of time. It’s like Good Times, except the tainted, bitter version. I don’t believe in regret because “everything is a learning experience blah blah blah” but reminiscing and only seeing your oblivious, vulnerable self. Wearing rose tinted glasses can be self-destructive. Accepting defeat and letting “the goodtimes go” is a healthy next step. At least you know better now.
