AMERICAN TEETH Shares New Single ‘Barred Out’

Without any sign of remorse, American Teeth’s Barred Out comes clean about the hurtful truth of a relationship destined to fail.

American Teeth 2020

Who knew the phrase ‘Don’t cry over spilt milk’ could ever be the theme and the gist of a song? Nonchalantly accepting the imminent end of a relationship, American Teeth‘s Barred Out bluntly and slightly satirically speeds through the post-breakup conversations as if they are a nuisance that needs to get out of the way. With relaxed vocals and a slightly defiant upbeat instrumental, the song creates an atypically relaxed atmosphere given its theme, however I believe it’s worth appreciating as a refreshing take on an otherwise over-agonizing topic.

Speaking on the new track, Elijah Noll aka American Teeth shares:

‘Barred Out’ is about ending a relationship and wondering if you made the right decision because the emotions of the aftermath are so strong that you want to numb them out completely. This all came up in a session while writing with Cameron from TWIN XL. We’ve written somewhat frequently together for other artists, but this was our first time writing for American Teeth. He cut the vocal for the pre-chorus, and after hearing how good he sounded on it, we decided it would be dope to have him stay on the track!
