Channelling an optimism that’s helped herself and many others get through the drawls of this year, RIIKI’s new single Good Times helps deliver a final motivational push to the end of year.

New Zealand alt-pop artist RIIKI shows us that we are not alone in finding this a tough year, but encouragingly reminds us that there will be calm after the storm and we will get through with Good Times to pull us out. Opening with a slightly more somber tone, she offers a candid insight of just some of the things that have not gone so smoothly, but as the euphoric chorus explodes in with dazzling textures and vibrant major melodies, it embodies the good times that will break through.

Sharing more on her inspirations for the track, RIIKI says:

‘Good Times’ is a reminder to self that after any bad experience and slump in your life, good times surely must follow even when you can’t see the future becoming brighter. I truly believe in the quote that is ‘after any storm, there is a rainbow’. 2020 started on such a high for me, and then the world came crashing down. Covid hit, my boyfriend broke up with me during the most heightened time of the pandemic, many issues in society had arisen and there was so much anger in the world. At one point I had lost so much motivation and would cry nearly everyday, but I knew I wasn’t the only one going through the feels. Writing this song has and still is helping me through the shit 2020 has thrown at myself and the world, it really feels like my moving on song onto greater and better things. I am hopeful that good changes and times are coming for everyone and myself.
