j ember is an emerging 25-year-old Canadian artist who draws inspiration from indie rock legends Arctic Monkeys and Blur, as well as classic singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. As if he is lyrically wearing his heart on his sleeve in every track, j ember creates music with pure transparency.

He strives to make music with lyrical authenticity and a nostalgic feel, and his latest single Dumb is no exception to this, with its predominantly acoustic sonics which highlight the vulnerable lyricism.

‘Dumb’ means a lot to me, a change in musical direction. I wanted to incorporate more instruments and really start building out my live show. It’s a tongue in cheek story that reminisces on the subtle fibs and loaded questions in relationships.
