MOTHÉ Shares Yearning Single ‘Summer’s Almost Gone’
Visceral instrumentals and delicate falsetto vocals characterise the nostalgic new release from Mothé, Summer’s Almost Gone.

Los Angeles-based musician and producer Spencer Fort, aka Mothé, has always found a safe haven within music after being trained in classical music and playing piano from a young age. As a non-binary artist within an industry that’s still heavily weighed down by societal conformity, Mothé’s trust in music has allowed them to share a refreshing perspective and strive to amplify the diverse voices within the community in starting their own independent record label, Slowlab Records. With a lulling sound that will entrance and hypnotise you, Mothé doesn’t have to force you to pay attention to them – their music will naturally awaken your curiosity to take a deeper interest in what they have to say and ponder over the message.
In their newest single, Summer’s Almost Gone, they take you on a mesmerising journey through luscious sounds and viscous textures to ease your nerves and settle your mind. Blending dreamy ‘ooh’s and soft-spoken vocals, the track gently tucks you into its embrace as it traipses down memory lane and a much-loved road of sweet nostalgia. While the lyrics take on a slightly more bittersweet edge as it sighs over the ending of a romantic relationship, the harshness is mellowed out by the evocative ending melodies, which are a welcome retrieve after the thrill of emotions that push and pull throughout the track.
With an intentional approach to their music-making, and a reliance upon more traditional analog recording techniques, Mothé explains:
With every single thing I do, I want to take a little bit longer because I put a bit of care. I want all of my work to exist outside of the digital sphere, too. I love the idea of having things come to life in a physical form before they make their way to other platforms.
