JOLÉ Showcases Softness on New Single ‘Alpine Green’

Pensive and pretty with wispy acoustics and handsome vocals, Alpine Green marks a new era for London-based artist, Jolé.

Jole 2020

In his first single from his forthcoming EP, Silver Lake, Jolé welcomes the new era sweetly. Although relatively even-toned throughout, the minimal, delicate fingerpicking and gentle ambiance allow for a focus on Jolé’s voice. The haunting, layered vocals mist over the surface of Alpine Green while soft synths add subtle details to the mix. The cherry on top comes from the enchanting world Jolé creates. His storytelling paints a picture in your mind, vivid and clear, as it induces memories of happier times together. The picture may not be mountains covered in conifers or skies blue and welcoming as detailed in Alpine Green, but it wraps around you like a hug all the same.

Jolé elaborated on the meaning behind the song, saying:

I wrote this song whilst being really homesick. The narrative is about experiencing something beautiful or uplifting that you wish you could share with someone that can’t be there. It’s about feeling grateful in the moment but wanting someone you love to experience it with you also. However, in not being with that person, holding them in your thoughts or in your memory can sometimes be good enough.

The Silver Lake EP is out August 21st.
