Foals unveiled the amazing video for ‘Mountain at my gates’
A band that cannot do wrong. Like, never. Ever. And after hearing the first single from the upcoming new record What Went Down (read more) I knew that this next album was going to be huge!
This time Foals brought us something new, something revolutionary, something amazing. Obviously. Did you expect the opposite? Not gonna happen! Like, ever.
The new video for the track Mountain At My Gates was filmed using GoPro cameras and spherical Virtual Reality technology making it interactive for the viewers. Just click on a compass on the left side of the screen and see for yourself! The director Nabil, who has worked with Kanye West and Frank Ocean in the past, did pretty good job and made a few comments about it saying It has the power to transport you. Well, yes it does. Spin around if you will.
As for the song, frontman Yannis Philippakis in a chat with NME said
I’d recorded the beginning riff on my phone ages ago. At the beginning it had a baggy feel, but became less so with more work. The central image – ‘I see a mountain at my gates’ was from me getting more interested in seeing what would come out lyrically where there wasn’t a pre-conceived idea. Normally I write voraciously in books and journals, then harvest a lot of that for the record. This, though, came out instantaneously in the room.
The new album What Went Down is set to be released on August 28 and I’m getting it the moment it’s out!
