The Wombats have announced their fourth studio album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, with first single, Lemon To A Knife Fight.

Celebrating the release of their debut, A Guide To Love, Loss & Desperation, earlier this year, and though we love reviving old classics, the prospect of a new album is well exciting.

In true Wombats manner, the tune is heavily relying on gangly guitar melodies, but 10 years of experience definitely adds to the mix. Lemon To A Knife Fight has a distinctly clearer production than previous Wombats melodies. Sparkled with glossy harmonies and Matthew Murphy’s idiosyncratic vocals, Lemon To A Knife Fight balances off pop allusions with a sardonic lyricism and dark flair.

Speaking of the song, Murphy says:

‘Lemon To A Knife Fight’ came around after my wife and I had a huge argument on Mulholland Drive. I’d been watching tons of David Lynch too, the song just kind of fell out of me.

Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life is due to be released on February 9th 2018 via Kobalt Music Recordings.

The band states that:
