KWASSA Shares Groovy New Single ‘sad songs’

When you think of sad songs, bouncy beats and upbeat melodies don’t tend to be the first thing that comes to mind but somehow when kwassa does it, it feels so right.

Although he’s only released one prior track under his newest moniker kwassa, Scott Verrill certainly is no stranger to the music scene. When he first played Glastonbury as part of the youngest band to play the festival, he was still in school, and he’s spent the last four years creating under the name KYKO. It’s fair to say he’s an artist that knows his craft, and his newest track sad songs only proves the validity of that statement.

If you’re expecting something mellow and melancholic from hearing the title, then the track couldn’t surprise you more. Woozy beats lay a groovy foundation for exuberant pop that dazzles with its youthful vibrancy. The tropical electronics hint at a playful demeanour and a laid-back attitude that gives no hint to the wistful lyricism.

Speaking about the track, kwassa says:

I liked the idea of a making a really upbeat track called Sad Songs because it reflects the confusion of growing up, and the idea that you would listen to a ’sad’ song to make you feel some kind of way, when actually it often makes you feel the opposite.
