HALSEY Unveils Shattering New Single and Video for ‘Nightmare’
If the newest video and single from Halsey doesn’t get your blood pumping, then nothing will.
If there was an anthem for the women of 2019, then Halsey’s newest single would be it. Departing from the pop influences of her earlier work, Nightmare is a more riotous, outspoken chorus that brings a go-to-hell attitude and for good reason. Singing ‘I’ve been polite, but won’t be caught dead lettin’ a man tell me what I should do with my bed’, it’s a concentration of all the pent-up feelings and frustrations that comes with being a female in this day and age, and there’s no doubt that this track will become a source of empowerment for many. Carrying a defiant attitude, the incendiary chorus will fire you up with the same passion that drives the track.
The accompanying video is equally rousing, and takes the words ‘girl power’ to a whole other level. As if the fact that it features an all-female cast of 100 wasn’t empowering enough in itself, Halsey plays multiple gender roles before shattering them to the ground. Between raucous street fights and cars burning, you’ll be left feeling charged and ready to stand in defiance alongside Halsey.
