LIZA ANNE Announces New Album ‘Bad Vacation’

With a new album announcement comes a new single, and Liza Anne’s unflinchingly wry lyrics and undeniably catchy instrumentation in Bummer Days does not disappoint.

A retro-influenced, guitar-heavy track, Bummer Days is a unique take on alt-pop. It’s the self-deprecating humour in the lyrics that push an already infectious track into the upper echelons of pop. With lyrics like “I spent the last two years in shoes that were too big / And if it’s not my lungs I’m gonna die / Because I trip” and “There’s always something that I’m doing / To keep me far from where I say I’m going” the irony of wanting to “get better” but doing anything and everything to knock yourself back down is palpable. Add a hearty dose of sassy inflictions and a satisfying bassline that lines up with her singing and Bummer Days is another hit from Liza Anne.

On the song, she said:

I started this song when I was visiting my parents in 2018. I was reading through old poems and journal entries and circling the drain of my own sorrow stories, which felt like a bit of a wake up call. I have all these ideas of what taking care of myself looks like, but I tend to get in my own way. ‘Bummer Days’ is me calling myself out. I am the only person who will take responsibility for my emotional and mental health.

With buzz already swarming her, it’s hard to not be excited for Liza Anne’s newly announced album, Bad Vacation. Written during a very dark and destructive period in her life, this album will follow up her critically acclaimed Fine But Dying by taking on topics such as self-awareness and mental health.

I was a wreck. I left the relationship and was desperate to find emotional safety in someone else. It felt better to have someone outside of me show me love than sit with myself long enough to learn how to show myself love. I was on a bender for emotional safety, not knowing that I could be my own healing space.

I was writing what I needed to hear. I literally wrote a stronger, more empowered version of myself into existence.

Bad Vacation is out 24th July via Arts & Crafts Records. If you enjoy interactive and engaging album release campaigns, make sure to check out the Bad Vacation micro-site for a cheeky and fun experience.
