Swedish duo Slide battle anxiety and find comfort in the arms of loved ones in their atmospheric alt-pop cut, Waiting.

Following the release of their previous single Hello Spirit last month, Albin Skeppholm and Simon Werner aka Slide offer a unique take on pop in their new track, Waiting, which will feature on their forthcoming new EP, Things I Tell Myself, out later this year.

Touching upon the theme of love being the antidote to fear, Waiting shines with crisp production and emotionally raw lyricism. With a dark hip-hop beat underpinning the track, the gritty vocals set quite an ominous tone, as we hear that “everyone is gonna die”. But no matter how crushing it may sound, Slide quickly remind us that love and inner peace can be found even in the darkest of days, as the bridge bursts into a playful sonic glory, addining more vibrancy to the itriguing track.

Speaking of the new single, the duo explains:

‘Waiting’ is about a lot of things. I think it was just a reflection on everything going through my mind at the time like love, life, death, success, failure and even global warming in some regard. I realised I was really scared about the future and the only thing that made me calm was talking about these things with my girlfriend and how love is kind of this eternal larger than life thing you know?
