POWFU Dives Into Nostalgic Past With ’17again’
Joined by an acoustic guitar, 17again is the tender new offering from Powfu.
Don’t we all have those moments where we wish we were 17 again, an age of being young, carefree, and unburdened by responsibilities? Powfu certainly has experienced this desire, and expresses them in his newest track 17again. The rising lo-fi artist began his current journey recording and releasing music from his bedroom, amassing almost 1 million followers along the way, and 17again looks likely to further catapult him into the limelight.
Starting off with an innocent-enough request, ‘meet me on 7th street’, the track plays upon child-like desires to convey a sense of longing for the past and a nostalgic yearning for simpler times. Accompanied simply by an acoustic guitar, Powfu’s tender vocals are the focal point and in combination with his honest, story-telling lyricism, it makes him a vivid songwriter who is able to capture the mundane and spin it into a beautiful piece of art. The release of the track is accompanied by a DIY-style video, created and edited by Powfu’s frequent collaborator and cousin Meliodic. Shot in his hometown near Vancouver, it adds an extra layer of intimacy to the track and exposes the bare soul presented in an even more visceral manner.
