Aman Sheriff and Lucas McCone (Vandalye) have once again flexed their compositional muscles with their collaborative new effort, Something About The Way You Say.

At four-minutes in length, the track is quick to addict listeners, which is no surprise given the duo’s impressive track record of written hits. Earlier this year Sheriff’s song, Rest claimed the title of “Best New Pop” on Spotify.

Inspired by a love story set in New York City, Sheriff and McCone seemingly create their own teleportation device with Something About The Way You Say — transporting listeners directly into the melancholic city scene set within the lyrics.

“Two butterflies coming down on a high,” a short statement made visceral, catapults you back into the very heartache you’ve tried to erase, all the while flooding you with longing nostalgia instantaneously.

The airy pop creation feels like an ode to the earliest synth-driven music, all the while basking in the effortless comfortability of modern chillwave. Although not overly technical instrumentally, the track’s trickling bass, pulsing synth and spectral guitar work are perfectly calculated and extremely effective when paired with Sheriff’s breathy vocals.

Offering stimulus in everyday monotony, Something About The Way You Say will leave you yearning each time the chorus fades into the ether, undoubtedly having you tap the replay button more than once.
