Kirsty Grant reflects on the loss of a past love with electric pop-infused single Back To Sleep.

The South London-based alluring Gen Z pop maker, Kirsty Grant seems to be on an unstoppable steady road in the synth-pop scene since the release of her debut single I’m The One last year. Following an astonishing string of two singles this year, Wait A Second and High Road, the latest shimmering track finds Kirsty pondering on the struggle of missing someone special that she was once very close with. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande, the three minute sonic sees the singer diving into a hauntingly entrancing and minimal beat, leaving space for the heavenly blooming high vocal performance that shines through and stuns the listeners.

Speaking of Back To Sleep, Kirsty explains:

This is one of my favourite songs to date; there’s something about it that feels so special to me. It’s the hardest I’ve ever worked (vocally) on a song and it took countless hours to perfect. The meaning behind the song is so honest and pure as it’s about longing after someone you’ve lost, reflecting on that period after a breakup where it’s isolating and painful and you don’t know what to do with your day to get through it, so the only thing you can do is go back to sleep and try to forget. When I was recording the song at home during lockdown. The lyrics reflected how I was feeling – not about a breakup – but about being isolated and feeling lonely. The lyrics ironically reflected how lonely I was feeling being in quarantine in my flat and trying to find a new normal.
