SXSW Announces Nearly 100 Showcasing Artists for SXSW Online 2021

SXSW has announced their first round of showcasing artists for this year’s virtual festival.

SXSW 2021

The exclusively online experience will take place March 16-20.

Despite the event taking place virtually, this year’s SXSW Music Festival will continue to showcase fabulous local, national and international talent. SXSW’s CEO and co-founder Roland Swenson commented on the new format and future of SXSW:

The challenge of building a new future is one that we’re excited to tackle. This has been such a year of change and we, like the entire world, are reshaping our perspective on how we connect. We’re pleased to be working on SXSW Online as part of our program for 2021, and regardless of platform, we will continue to bring together the brightest minds from creative industries worldwide.

Many of the showcasing artists are carryovers from last year’s canceled festival, but there are a few fresh faces. Highlights include London-based newcomers Weird Milk; Kee’ahn, who only just released her debut single Better Things in May last year; Mexican rockers Ruido Rosa; under-the-radar Dan Bettridge, whose impressive career continues into 2021 with new single habitat; neo-soul punk English singer and songwriter Connie Constance; the hauntingly intimate Indigo Sparke whose highly-anticipated album, Echo produced by Andrienne Lenker, is out in February on Sacred Bones; Katy J Pearson, whose hazy, country-twang debut album, Return, brings ode to self-resilience; the bubbling, Australian garage band Beans; and more.

Passholders will be able to enjoy featured artists performing from unique venues in their home countries, with streaming available via web, mobile and the SXSW Online Connected TV app. View the full announcement here.
