STRAY LOCAL Share Hopeful Track ‘Featherweight’
Uplifting and undoubtedly relevant, this song features a powerful message to those of us who grapple with anxiety: do not give up fighting.
Stray Local are a formidable husband-and-wife songwriting duo, consisting of Hannah and Jamie Rowen. Featherweight was impressively written, recorded and produced by the duo, mixed by Lee Hester, and mastered by Josh Seawell.
Featherweight expertly blends hints of folk and indie with typical pop qualities, as Hannah’s striking vocals lie on a bed of charming guitar riffs.
Stray Local share:
‘Featherweight’ is about the continuous fight with anxiety but the determination to beat it, “I’m a featherweight, but I’m a fighter.” Many of us struggle with overwhelming anxiety and living through this global pandemic has heightened many of those feelings for myself personally. In the bridge you can feel the swirling sense of stress closing in as the incessant background vocals chant in stereo, but the determination of the subject bursts through the center as the lead vocal exclaims, “I may be down but don’t count me out!” Relatable to so many, we hope ‘Featherweight’ can be uplifting to those who face anxiety and mental health issues.
After a testing time of quarantining, isolation and burgeoning anxiety around socialising again, this new track, which empowers those who battle anxiety and other mental health issues, could not come at a better time.
