LORDE Returns With Summer Anthem ‘Solar Power’

Filled with joie de vivre, Solar Power is a blissful, sun-drenched adventure into Lorde’s fantastic sonic universe.

Lorde Solar Power 2021

Solar Power is the first single from Ella Yelich-O’Connor’s third album of the same name, a follow-up to her 2017’s full-length Melodrama.

Returning with a renewed passion and a new sense of confidence, Lorde offers summer sunlight in the form of her latest track. Solar Power is a triumphantly joyful and euphorically whimsical cut of pop brilliance, as Lorde sings: “Acid green, aquamarine / The girls are dancing in the sand / And I throw my cellular device in the water / Can you reach me? No, you can’t (Aha).” Built around playful guitars and lush melodies, the song’s elements effortlessly coalesce into a sun-kissed dream, radiating warmth and pure, unadulterated bliss.

Co-written and co-produced with Jack Antonoff, the track also features backing vocals courtesy of Clairo and Phoebe Bridgers.
