Hailing from the Isle of Wight, Lauran Hibberd is an indie-pop artist who is heavily supported by BBC Radio 1 and indie tastemakers such as NME, The Line of Best Fit, Clash and Billboard. Her sophomore EP Goober, lyrically satirical and jam-packed full of anthems, charmed listeners and solidified her rapidly-growing ascent. Following her recent UK headline shows and appearances at many notable festivals, Lauran stuns once again with the release of her latest single Charlie’s Car.
Produced by the esteemed Suzy Shinn, Charlie’s Car is a euphoric anthem epitomising the foolish yet innately human attraction to toxicity. With a storytelling songwriting style and Lauran’s pop punk-esque vocals, this track paints the picture of an unhealthy relationship in a uniquely humorous manner.
Lauran speaks on the single:
I think everyone has a ‘Charlie’ in their life. It’s ironic that this totally unreasonable behaviour is something I find myself thirsty for. WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME? This track is definitely just a down spiralling array of unhealthy events that I find myself (as always) coating in infamous comedy.
It’s clear to see that Lauran Hibberd’s ascension knows no limits, which is highly promising for the forthcoming release of her debut album next year.
