Indie-pop duo Bestfriend continue their conquering of all of our hearts with their tender and yearning new single Does It Matter?. They prove that distance is no match for creative callings, as they connect from two opposite sides of the United States, with the aid of technology, to bring us catchy tunes that are so heartfelt that they will be sure to transcend any and all timezones. Combining ardent guitar melodies and fragile vocal lines against a delicate electronic backdrop, the pair crafts an utterly captivating and irresistible sound that gently coaxes you to connect with your innermost feelings.

Does It Matter? was recorded at the end of last year, but has taken on a whole different meaning in recent times. Spinning a romantic narrative from the perspective of a faraway lover with desires to see their partner more often, it’s a story that has become all too familiar for many separated couples over lockdown.

Speaking more on the meaning of the track, the duo explains:

This song was written in December 2019, before things really came to a head in 2020. It’s a love song about wanting to be with the person you care about the most to comfort each other while the world starts to end around you. The transit theme compares this comfort-in-the-world-ending notion to a similar feeling of running into someone you love on your way somewhere. We’re on a train at the same time going to different places, living our own lives as best we can, but we get to see each other for a brief, sweet moment while we do.
