JEREMY ZUCKER Reveals Dreamy Visuals for ‘supercuts’

The video for supercuts is a nostalgia-tinged pastel dream that you will not want to wake up from.

Jeremy Zucker supercuts 2020

Jeremy Zucker has treated us to an aesthetic visual delight with the new video for his summer gem supercuts. The track is the latest offering from the artist since the release of his debut album, love is not dying, back in April.

A sardonic take on a post-breakup song, supercuts masterfully blends upbeat melodies and honey-glazed warm vocals to create a sun-kissed pop bop. With a Wes Anderson-esque colour palette, the video adds to the charm, portraying Jeremy as he performs the song in a suburban scenery. As the summer winds down, we couldn’t have wished for a better soundtrack to guide us into autumn.

Speaking on the new release, Jeremy explains:

I actually wrote ‘supercuts’ about a year ago in Sweden with Max Martin’s camp, so it’s a song that I’ve been sitting on for a while and waiting for the right time.

It’s about the fear of being complacent and ending up where you started, which for me was a small town in the suburbs of New Jersey. The idea of seeing your ex’s mom at the Supercuts in the mall is really just the most sarcastically exaggerated way of portraying that life, to me. Despite being a more upbeat record, there is this sarcastic, self-loathing tone behind my performance. It’s quite fun.

On the video, he adds:

I wanted to play off of iconic, memorable images from my upbringing in a very typical American suburb. The crew and I had a lot of fun capturing these moments using interesting angles, surrealist creative direction and just giving me the space to feel comfortable being myself on camera.
