SØLV Creates Experimental Harmony With New Single ‘Gentle Riot’
With Sølv’s newest drop, Gentle Riot, she not only breaks the mould of radio-friendly indie-pop but completely re-frames it.

In a world of 80s-tinged electro-pop, London-based singer, Sølv, is changing the game. Her latest single, Gentle Riot, marries ambient synths to reverberating whirrs; grimy beats to gauzy vocal layering. It is experimental but not so outrageous that it becomes unpalatable to the general listener. Akin to contemporaries such as Billie Eilish and Banks, Sølv’s breathy but pure vocals are the superglue finishing touch. Together, Gentle Riot is not made by the individual parts, but by the sum of the listening experience. It works as one or not at all. It is a harmony that is both beautiful and intriguing. It’s time to pay attention.
Discussing her track, Sølv said:
I wrote, produced and recorded ‘Gentle Riot’ during lockdown. It’s about learning to be unmistakably yourself. Originally written as a comeback to anyone who tries to keep you in your place and not believing in the power and potential you hold, I soon realised it was just as much an internal conversation; an energy that paves the way towards self-acceptance. It’s about not listening to your self-sabotaging inner voice and trusting your true intuition.
