Bringing a little ray of Californian sunshine into our day, Rook Monroe ends off 2020 in style as he releases his debut EP Californialand. Its titular track is a distant dream wrapped up in swaying rhythms and laid-back vocals, backed by a gentle guitar strum that delicately brushes our senses. A tale of self-growth and the fear of the unknown, Californialand finds Monroe at a crossroads torn between the past, the present, and the possibilities of the future, offering us a warm blanket on a cold winter day.

Every one of us has an idea of where we should go to find ourselves. Foregoing who we truly are, to keep the light on for whoever it is we’d prefer to become.
