BROOKE COMBE Releases Powerful Track ‘Impress You’

Defying societal beauty standards and the toxicity of the male gaze, this stunning single underlines the suffocating pressures women are under to conform to patriarchal ideals.

Born in Edinburgh but now based in East and Midlothian, Brooke Combe is a 21-year-old soulful singer-songwriter who discovered her musical passion at a mere 5 years old, after playing with her first toy drum kit. Following her learning the saxophone, trombone, guitar, bass and piano whilst at secondary school, Combe soon realised that the most formidable instrument in her repertoire is her voice. Influenced by her parents’ taste in 90s R&B and her grandparents’ love for Motown, Combe fell in love with stellar songwriting and idiosyncratic vocalists and lyricists such as Amy Winehouse and Fleetwood Mac, which she now channels into her own music.

Combe’s previous singles A-Game and Are You With Me? were met with praise from tastemakers NME, Dork, and Clash, as well as radio support from BBC Radio 1, Radio X and Apple Music. Her latest self-written single Impress You will, undoubtedly, receive similar acclamation due to Combe’s distinctly sublime vocals and the song’s brash bassline.

Speaking on her new single, Combe shares:

‘Impress You’ touches on the pressures women can feel to look or act a certain way for men. Hoping to impress them by becoming the ideal woman in their eyes which can be quite hard to obtain.

This winter and spring, Brooke Combe will blow audiences away with her phenomenal vocals, as she performs headline shows and joins Miles Kane and Courteneers for the support slots on their tours.
