Haunting and broody, the massive new single from Thrice is the second cut to be lifted from their upcoming album Palms, set to be released on September 14th via Epitaph Records.

Taking a different vein from previous single The Grey, Only Us is a masterpiece of searing vocals and expansive soundscapes. As pulsating synth lines and monumental guitar riffs ricochet off each other, emotionally-charged vocals soar above and pierce you as vocalist Dustin Kensrue mourns the separation present in today’s society. You’ll doubtless be left with chills running down your spine as the chorus rips through, an unstoppable beast of pulverising drums and pounding basses.

Kensrue explains the inspiration behind the track, saying:

‘Only Us’ came from thinking about how we’re so easily divided into ‘us’ and ‘them,’ when really we have an inherent ability to care for those in our group, and the parameters for who falls into that group are extremely flexible. It’s about how the things that we think separate us are actually inconsequential, and if we could broaden the idea of ‘us’ to include all people, it would help us to build a more loving and civil society.
