THOUSAND BELOW Announce Acoustic New EP ‘let go of your love’
Unveiling a brand new title track and reworking previous material into acoustic versions, Thousand Below’s newest EP let go of your love will bring both familiarity and excited anticipation.
Although post-hardcore band Thousand Below are not typically associated with tear-jerking, heart-rendering acoustic music, that perception looks poised for change as they announce their forthcoming EP let go of your love, set for release on August 21st. The EP will see the band re-imagining material from their sophomore album Gone In Your Wake, stripping back four of the tracks into acoustic versions, as well as sharing new material with titular track let go of your love.
Speaking on this idea, the band shares:
We had the idea to do an acoustic/remix EP for a while, and with everyone stuck in lockdown, it seemed like the perfect time to do it. We all recorded our parts at home in San Diego, and got our good friend Sumner from the band Dead Lakes to add a new spin on the remix of ‘chemical’. We liked the idea of doing a couple songs that were just acoustic guitar and singing, and a couple that were fully electronic to explore that side of the sound we added on ‘Gone In Your Wake’.
Exposing a more intimate side to the band that is usually hidden under gargantuan riffs and crushing percussion, the heartfelt let go of your love tugs upon heartstrings with its poignant lyricism and soulful vocals. Explaining the inspiration behind the lyricism, the band divulges:
‘let go of your love’ is about the need to move on from someone who was once the most important person in your life, but won’t be part of your future. It’s easy to get caught up in remembering the good parts of a relationship and preventing yourself from moving on.
