GABE LOPEZ Sums Up 2020 With Release of ‘End Of The Lost Summer’
In his new single, End Of The Lost Summer, Gabe Lopez merges honest commentary with bubbly energy to perfectly paint the past four months.
Looking at a calendar right now is undeniably gut-wrenching; where did our year go? That is what Gabe Lopez grapples with as the basis for his new song, End Of The Lost Summer. The electro-pop bop sums up the feelings of frustration and loneliness perfectly with Lopez singing, “wasn’t this year all a fucking bummer? It’s like we mostly were alone.” The chorus begs to be spring off your bedroom walls as bouncy synths carry you through the song from start to finish. For all the negative feelings End Of The Lost Summer encapsulates, you’re going to have a lot of fun listening to this track as it hits home.
Elaborating on his track, Lopez said:
I was feeling down because the summer just slipped away. Summer is my favorite season but this year because of COVID there was no travelling, no vacations, no family barbecues, no going out with friends on weekends. I felt an emptiness and sadness, and it reminded me of that same feeling I had as the August after graduating high school when so many friends were going off to college or were scared figuring out next steps in life. I remember missing the people I used to see every day. That time was long ago but the unease and melancholy were very familiar and immediate. There were a lot of parallels with that time and this summer. I just felt like this was a lost summer – both in that the time was lost and people were also feeling lost.
