Dancer-turned-singer Billy Vena returns with the groovy Shaggy Dynamite.

Texas-based Billy Vena is a fresh new face in the pop/funk/R&B scene. Debuting, and releasing a handful of hits, in 2020, the Panama native’s sound has instantaneously gained traction. Last month he released Rabbit Hole (Love Is What You Make It), the first single from his forthcoming debut EP. Keeping up with the irresistible groove, Vena has returned with Shaggy Dynamite.

The single, as told through intricate lyricism, is a commentary on a break-up and the process of getting over someone, highlighted in the repeated line “I’m just trying to break you like a habit.” Made with melodies familiar to the likes of Michael Jackson and Prince, Vena has added his own, unique twist to make his sound his own. A comfortable mix of pop and R&B music, funk-infused melodies make Shaggy Dynamite a definite hit.

Back when I was getting over someone, I had to sort of convince myself I was over them when really I wasn’t. it was like faking it till I made it, but with romance. Oddly enough, eventually the lie does become the truth.
