LUCKY LO Offers Sentimental New Track ‘Sunrise/Sunset’
Honouring her late friend, Sunrise/Sunset is the deeply moving new track from Sweden’s Lucky Lo.

Where Lucky Lo is from in Umeå, Northern Sweden, the sun never fully sets over summer; sunsets and sunrises bleed over into one another, and this seamless continuation of time provides the metaphorical anchor for Lucky Lo’s latest track that honours a late friend. Sunrise/Sunset wades through the heavy emotions that accompany the loss of a loved one, as it ponders about how we can carry on their light and honour their memory. Building through luscious guitars and glittering synths, it oozes with warmth and tenderness to tug you into a gentle embrace.
Treading the subject matter with delicacy, Sunrise/Sunset showcases Lucky Lo’s sensitivity as a songwriter, and her ability to invoke swelling emotions within listeners will make her hard to forget. Reflecting upon the track, Lucky Lo muses:
Death always comes unexpectedly. My friend was one of those people who had such a life force that you thought she was invincible. But at the age of 33 she lost her battle to cancer.
She was a musician like me and our lives had led almost parallel paths, with hers a little bit ahead. I looked at her like a version of my future self. But her passing triggered something in me I did not expect.
It is as if her dreams live on in me, and I have to finish them for her. What would she do if she had my breath? What would she say? Why her not me?
Teaming up with Japanese filmmaker Maya Matsuura for the accompanying music video, Lucky Lo further shares:
The video has a slow tempo and no clear narrative. It is more like a cinematic collection of memories. When you lose someone close to you it makes you want to rekindle life and reach out to your loved ones. This video portrait is made from a wish to make a memory for my family that will last forever. This is where I come from, and this is what I want to remember always.
