Described as “equal parts party and depression”, Rolling Stoned is a delightfully disguised track fuelled by deep, dark emotions. From the vibrant and energetic chorus to the moments of cheerful ukulele, WE R OK have created a song that is begging to be danced to (or, at the very least, a song you can strut to on your commute home from work). It’s only when you listen to the lyrics that you hear the true meaning behind the smiling façade. “Voices in my head / Rolling up a dollar bill / Probably better options / But for now that’s how I gotta deal” is one of the many allusions to addiction and the ways people cope with life. The video is equally vivacious with animated characters imitating the lyrics and painting the story of Rolling Stoned in full-spectrum colour.
