Conal Kelly 2021

Injecting a dose of serotonin and colour into your life, Conal Kelly returns with his summer anthem Mallory (Nobody Quite Like You). The Bristol musician continues to firm himself as a burgeoning name with his polychromatic take on alt-pop and vibrant melodies that lodge themselves into your brain. In Mallory (Nobody Quite Like You), he imbues the melodies with an irresistible warmth through glimmering synths, and you’ll be further strung along by heartfelt vocals.

The catchy rhythm of the introduction give way to a beat-driven verse that propels the momentum, before a compelling chorus takes over with staccato electronics and soaring vocals. The carefree instrumentals let loose in a flurry of splashing cymbals and pulsing basses, creating a rich texture to immerse yourself in.

Sharing more about the track, Conal explains:

Initially when I wrote the song, it wasn’t about anyone in particular, but I knew I wanted to have a name as the title. For the longest time I had the name ‘Emily’ stuck in my head, which was the name of my housemate’s girlfriend… so I figured I better think of something else. Fortunately ‘Mallory’ fits the melody perfectly and also, doesn’t get me into trouble, which is always a bonus.
