Taking pop music to a newer, darker level is Jodie Nicholson with her stunning new single, Why Would You (Go).

Jodie Nicholson takes the term ‘genre-bending’ to a whole new level, as her music is an amalgamation of dark alt-pop, indie, folk – it’s impossible to label her sound as anything other than unique, but this flexibility has allowed for her to release incredible music. Since debuting in 2019, Jodie has had only four releases, the latest being the pensive Why Would You (Go).

Written about the emotional turmoil that occurs within a toxic relationship, the single contains an exuberance unexpected from something quite so emotive. Nicholson’s mellow vocals are layered with beautiful harmonies and a quick-paced, electronic beating adds that upbeat feeling. Incredibly composed, Why Would You (Go) shows Jodie Nicholson smash it once again.

On Why Would You (Go), Jodie explains:

It’s about knowing a relationship is no good for you, but as soon as you see them, you’re like “how could I possibly leave?,” a conversation I had with myself time and time again. You’ll hear clips of me driving, talking to myself in my car, which became a safe space for me to voice how I was feeling without ever having to admit anything to anyone else.
