The Things She Says To Me is a soft, lovey-dovey ballad that sees SPINN show a softer side to their sound.

Liverpool’s finest SPINN are comprised of vocalist Johnny Quinn, guitarist Andy Power, bassist Sean McLachlan, and drummer Louis O’Reilly, and the quartet have been making pretty, indie-pop bops since 2017. In 2019 they released SPINN, their eponymous debut album, and, whilst it had listeners hooked, the band don’t feel it displayed their full potential. In light of this, SPINN have come back fighting this year to make music they’re truly proud of; starting the year with the upbeat Billie, it has been taken down a notch and the tone becomes smoother in their latest single, The Things She Says To Me.

The Things She Says To Me is a love song but, in classic SPINN style, it’s been given a lovely little indie twist. The melodies are reminiscent of those heard in a supermarket jingle, but one of those really good ones that you can’t get out of your head. Quinn’s vocals have always provided a calming and enjoyable element, and this single is no different. SPINN have truly stepped things up, and The Things She Says To Me will definitely be a crowd pleaser on their upcoming tour.

When I was writing this song, I really wanted to write a pure pop song. Lyrically, it’s one of my favourites… it carries that scouse-pop heritage in a way I’m really happy with. This song felt like the first step in the process of getting where we wanted to be.
